We have constructed blinds at two of the clay licks of the Napo Wildlife Center Reserve Area – the most accessible parrot and macaw clay licks in Ecuador.

Visiting these clay licks helps to support a 82-square-mile private reserve and supports Yasuní National Park, which is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Clay licks like these are scattered throughout western Amazonia. Although locals have always known about the clay licks and the ability to see parrots in this area, clay licks did not gain the attention of scientists until 1984.

Now it is known that clay licks form an important part of the biology of parrots and macaws. Both parrots and macaws are fed by nuts from a variety of trees.

Some of these trees have developed defences against having their nuts eaten: typically by having evolved a toxin inside the nut to protect it. Every animal eating these nuts will become sick.

The lodge is built beautifully with local architecture, hardwood floors and well considered amenities.

Nearby blinds built at parrot clay licks bring action to you, a 120-foot canopy tower deep in the forest allows you to experience the life above the forest floor, and the natural attractions are simply unmatched in Amazonian Ecuador.

Take a look at our guest's comments to see what others are saying.

Monkeys, parrots, and giant otters can be seen during the day, and we offer the comfort of a hot shower, tasty dinner, and a cold beer at the end of the day.

This is the way to discover the rainforest in luxury, and it is just what you have been looking for....
